You are signed up for a Youth International program and you are ready to hit the ground running, eager to explore everything that the first stop on your program itinerary has to offer. That’s a great attitude, but there is one piece of the puzzle missing: Who are the other participants who make up your team and who are your leaders? When you join Youth International, you are joining a team. And nothing is more important than getting to know the other members of your team, learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and learning how to appreciate and respect each other’s differences. The process of team building and team bonding starts at orientation, usually held for 3 days at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. You will take part in a variety of team building exercises, from silly games to very serious team contracts.
This group of people, gathered from across the country and, in some cases, from across the globe, will become your traveling family for three months. You will explore, laugh, and cry together, get through illness and injury with each other’s support, process the impact of your new cultural experiences together, and grow to be citizens of the world together. Some of these people will most certainly become your lifelong friends.
Youth International programs are 3 months in length, with start dates in September and February each year. Learn how you can join a team today!
