Anyone who will be between 18 and 25 years of age when traveling is welcome to apply to join a Youth International gap year opportunity. *Some flexibility with this age restriction does apply: View Essential Eligibility Criteria.

If you are interested in joining one of our upcoming teams, please fill out an application form and submit it to us as soon as possible.  Applications are accepted until all the spots on the team are filled.  We accept applications at any time for upcoming semesters.  It is free to apply.

Applications are followed up with a telephone interview and references before an applicant is accepted into a program.  Youth International will normally be in contact within one week of receiving an application to schedule the telephone interview.

Volunteer Abroad - Africa

Program Details for 2020/2021:

Asia Fall Semester:

13 weeks in Nepal, India and Thailand

Dates: September 14 to December 13, 2020.

Cost: US $10,950 + flights

12 weeks in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador

Dates: September 14 to December 6, 2020.

Africa & Near East Fall Semester:

12 weeks in Kenya, Egypt, and Jordan

Dates: September 14 to December 6, 2020.

Nepal 3 1/2 week Spring Intensive:

Dates: April 24 to May 18, 2020.

Cost US $3,500 + flights

The program fee covers all program expenses during the time abroad, including: all meals and lodging, all overland travel, all scheduled program activities (including all expeditions, outdoor adventure activities, and sightseeing), team leaders and in-country staff, all costs for orientation in the USA, educational materials, and other miscellaneous program expenses.

In addition to the program fee, participants must pay for their flights.  On average the cost of flights will be approximately $1800 for the South America semester and approximately $1,900 for the Asia semester and the Africa & Near East semester.

The only other costs not covered by the program fee are personal expenses and individual free time activities. Personal expenses include: health insurance, entry visas, and transportation to orientation in Colorado at the beginning of the program.
